Travelling by Car

If you are travelling from the north of England, take the A55 coast road to Caernarfon. Recently developed, the A55 provides straight forward and comfortable driving with the added bonus of some spectacular coastal views. From Caernarfon take the A4085 into Snowdonia National Park for about 15 minutes. Just after cross a small bridge you will see the Lakehouse entrance on your right. As a general guide, the full journey only takes about 2 hours from Manchester or Liverpool.

Visitors travelling from the south of Wales should head for the A470 and follow that road to the A487, which will take you into Caernarfon. From there you should take the A4085 into the National Park. Castell Cidwm is located on the left-hand side of the road at the far end of the Llyn Cwellyn lake.

For those of you coming from the south of England, initially head for Birmingham and then the M54 just to the north. From the M54 take the A5 into Wales and follow this road until you reach the Snowdonia National Park. At Capel Curig, turn left onto the A4086 then take a left onto the A498. Next turn right onto the A4085, after driving for about 15 minutes you should see the entrance to the Lakehouse on your left.

Travelling by Train

While Caernarfon is the closest town, unfortunately there isn’t a train station there. So from any part of the country head to Bangor, then take a bus to Caernarfon and a taxi to Castell Cidwm, or alternatively you can take a taxi direct from Bangor station.
